Thirty-six-year-old Rafeek Baksh, who ingested a poisonous substance after chopping a 28-year-old woman, died around 8 pm on Tuesday while in the open ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Meanwhile the woman, Natasha Ramphal, 28, of Industry, East Coast Demerara is said to be in a stable condition in the open ward of the institution. When this newspaper visited the woman at the hospital yesterday her hands were heavily bandaged and she had stitches to her head. Her relatives said that she is in severe pain. She was also receiving saline.

Ramphal was chopped three times on her head, twice on her left hand and once on her right hand by Baksh on First Street, Industry while on her way to collect her son from school.
