Teen gets option to repay woman for two gold chains

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle gave a teenager time to compensate a woman for two gold chains which he allegedly stole from her person.
Peter McKenzie, 18, of 299 Meadow Brook Squatting Area pleaded not guilty to the charge of larceny from the person when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

It is alleged that on September 25 the accused stole from the person of Shaunette Chase two gold chains together worth $125,000.
“Is it legal for an officer to beat anybody?” the young man asked the magistrate after he had entered his plea. “…’til now I don’t know wuh I in police custody for.”

McKenzie told the court that although he didn’t steal the items in question he would like to compensate the woman to avoid any more “problems”. He explained that his mother was sending some money and asked for more time to get the full amount.

The magistrate told the teen that she would give him until yesterday to get the total sum to repay the woman but he would have to remain in police custody until the money was paid.
