Firearm holders urged to renew licences

The Guyana Police Force yesterday advised licensed firearm holders, that failure to renew their licences for 2008 may result in them being revoked.

The Force said in an advisory yesterday that it has been observed that a number of licensed firearm holders have not yet renewed their firearm licences for this year.

The issue came to the fore recently when it was disclosed that Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys had used a firearm in a shooting incident which was not licensed for this year. No charges were pressed in relation to this.
