Mandela Avenue gas station robbed

Two bandits one of whom was armed with a handgun held up two attendants at the Texaco Filling Station on Mandela Avenue late Tuesday night and later fled with some $9,000 in cash.

Stabroek News was reliably informed yesterday that the two attendants were on duty around 11.30 pm when two men went into the gas station.

One of them pulled out a gun and demanded that the attendants hand over the cash they had. After being given a small amount of cash which represented sales for the night, the bandits fled the scene on foot.
Up to press time last evening, police had not apprehended any of the men.
The gas station is located a stone’s throw from the East La Penitence Police Station.
