When Stabroek News visited McPherson at the hospital he was groaning in agony as family members attempted to massage his aching body. According to reports McPherson was walking along the road heading home at around 2 that morning after attending a party in Stevedore Scheme  when a speeding white minibus knocked him several feet from the roadside and immediately fled the scene. Several minutes after as McPherson was lying unconscious in the middle of the road a speeding white car ran over him and also drove away.

A nearby resident who was present in the hospital told Stabroek News, “I deh asleep when I heard a loud crash.” The woman stated that she immediately got up but she did not know someone was involved in an accident since, according to her “I see a white thing lying on the road and I thought it was my white dog.” The woman stated that as she was opening her gate to check on the figure lying lifeless on the road, “I see a car coming and just run over de figure and drive away.”

She said that she rushed to the white figure and saw that it was McPherson lying on the road. The woman further said that sometime after a taxi that was passing the scene stopped and took Mc Pherson to the hospital.

McPherson’s sister Marie McPherson stated, “I think if de bus deh stop and at least pick he  up from de road and tek he to de hospital, de car woudn’t a run over he… them people can’t be human.”
She went on to say that McPherson would have taken a minibus home but it was early in the morning and buses did not operate. The family said that a statement was made to the police station and they have given some information on the hit and run suspects.
