Gunmen raid Better Hope restaurant

-beat proprietor, flee with $400,000
A power cut at Better Hope on Saturday night gave armed bandits the perfect opportunity to rob the Gordon Restaurant of $400,000.

According to a police press release, the 49-year-old owner, Liu Zhu Quing and his wife were attacked by four men, three of whom were armed with handguns.

At the time, the release said, there was no electrical power in the area and the four men entered the restaurant, held the couple at gunpoint then proceeded to search the business place. A total of $400,000 was discovered and taken from a drawer and a container. The men escaped on foot.

During the incident Quing was struck several times about the body with the butt of the firearms by the armed men. He was treated at a city hospital and sent away.
Investigations, the police said, are continuing.
