Trio hurt in three-way crash

Three persons were yesterday injured in an accident involving a minibus, a motorcycle and a car at the junction of D’Urban Street and Louisa Row.  Stabroek News was told that around 8:25 am yesterday, the motorcycle and the car had stopped at the traffic lights facing east, while two minibuses had stopped in the opposite direction at the same traffic light. When the light turned green, one of the mini buses reportedly attempted to overtake the other and ran into the path of the motor cycle, which had just moved off. The rider and the pillion rider of the motorcycle were thrown into the air before they landed on the road.

The driver of the bus then lost control of the bus and collided with the motor car which was behind the motorcycle. The bus eventually came to a stop when it turned over and landed on the car.

The two injured motorcyclists were rushed to the Accident and Emergency Section of the Georgetown Public Hospital, where the female pillion rider was treated and discharged, while the rider was hospitalised with head injuries and a broken leg. The conductor of the bus is said to have suffered from a cut to his head and he was treated and discharged.

Meanwhile, the driver of the bus is said to be in police custody.
