Opposition Leader Robert Corbin says he has no plans to change the composition of the Joint Task Force on Local Government Reform.

At a recent press conference Corbin was asked whether Vincent Alexander’s attendance at the task force meeting meant that the PNCR was not going to act on its disciplinary committee recommendations to ask him to resign from all posts in which he represents the party if he fails to recognise its leadership. In response he said, “Alexander’s presence will tell you that he is still the co-chairman of the task force.”

Corbin added that at the moment Alexander “Is still the co-chairman of the task force and I have no intention as Leader of the Opposition to change the composition of the task force on local government reform.”

Asked subsequently whether he had been informed about action taken against him by the party, Alexander told the media that he received a letter about the charges laid against him but he has had no further communication on the issue from either the disciplinary committee or the party.

After his public challenge for leadership of the PNCR last July, disciplinary proceedings were instituted against Alexander and his supporters.

Some of the supporters have had disciplinary actions imposed on them and some have been reprimanded. PNCR MP James McAllister one of Alexander’s leading supporters, was asked to resign from all positions in which he represents the party.

Alexander had subsequently dropped out of the election for leadership, saying that there should be a verification of the list of members eligible to vote at the party polls. He had previously offered to resign from his post on the task force in the aftermath of the party’s controversial elections.
