Gunmen hold up, rob minibus passengers

– escape into Bagotstown
Three men one of whom was armed with a gun, created terror in a Route 42 minibus on Wednesday when they robbed passengers of cash before fleeing into the East Bank Demerara village of Bagotstown.

Reports reaching Stabroek News are that the robbers boarded the minibus, which was heading to Grove, at the bus park in Georgetown some time after 9 am on Wednesday. They requested to be put off at a barbershop on the Bagotstown public road. When they had disembarked from the vehicle, one of the men pulled out a gun from a haversack he had and relieved a passenger of his gold ring, band and a substantial amount of cash, the newspaper was told.

The bandits then turned their attention to the conductor and other passengers who were within reach, collecting all the cash they had.

The trio then ran into the community.
Stabroek News learnt that one of the passengers went to report the matter at the Ruimveldt Police Station and while there, he saw two of the robbers in a car heading in the direction of the city.
However, by the time ranks could pursue the car, the men were nowhere to be seen.
Police are continuing their investigations.
