‘Disorderly’ man shot at Aranka

A man was shot in the foot on Thursday at Aranka, Baramita, North West District after he attacked the police with a cutlass when they went to arrest him for disorderly behaviour.

Police were making efforts to fly the unidentified man to the city for additional treatment and up to press time it was unclear if this was done.

A police release issued yesterday said that about 1:50 pm on Thursday while responding to a report of disorderly behaviour at Aranka, police ranks went to arrest a suspect who attacked them with a cutlass.

He continued despite being called upon to desist, forcing a rank to discharge a round which struck him below his right knee.

He was treated by the Medex at Baramita and efforts are being made to have him flown to the city for continued medical treatment at the Georgetown Hospital.
