-court told

A twenty-six-year-old man who allegedly stole 3.9M worth of shoes from a woman was remanded to prison on Wednesday when he appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Osaze King of Lot 63 Middle Street, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge of larceny by clerk or servant.

It is alleged that on March 11 and October 13, King stole 1,015 pairs of ladies shoes and a quantity of men’s footwear, all valued $3.9M from his employer Roxanne Munroe.

However King’s lawyer stated that Monroe was not desirous of continuing with the case since his client had offered to recompense her with $1M for the loss by working to pay off the debt.  The prosecution later confirmed the lawyer’s statement.

However the magistrate ordered that King be remanded to prison until today and ordered him to return then with money to start repaying Munroe along with a written document that should be signed by both parties on the agreement.
