Four held after police raids

A man was arrested after a gun was found on a mini bus he was in while two other men and two women were arrested for possession of narcotics following police searches in D Field, Sophia and Sparendaam Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara.

According to a release from the police at about 4 pm on Saturday ranks of a mobile patrol conducted a search on a mini-bus at Cummings Street, Georgetown, during which an unlicensed .38 revolver was found.
The man has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.

And the release said that the police yesterday morning conducted searches in the two communities during which seven houses were searched.

The four were arrested after narcotics were found and charges are likely to be laid shortly.
