The resident of Success on the ECD was being detained at the Beterverwagting Police Station following the discovery of Mahdoo’s body. Last Friday, the post-mortem performed on the woman revealed that she died from strangulation and from a blow to the right side of her head.

Ever since the 29-year-old woman was found dead, her relatives were convinced that foul play was involved and felt that the boyfriend should be the main suspect. The woman had disappeared last week Monday after she and a co-worker parted ways after going shopping for footwear.  Mahdoo was reportedly returning home to prepare to go to the Diwali motorcade.

According to a close relative after Mahdoo could not be found efforts were made to contact her boyfriend but he could not be reached.  However, the family member said that last week Tuesday (Diwali), the sister of the boyfriend suggested that the relatives look for her body in case anyone had killed her.  Hours after the family was told this, the young woman’s body was discovered.

Her relatives remain convinced that the boyfriend was involved in her disappearance and they say that he was very abusive to “Pinky” while she was alive.
Police are continuing investigations into the matter.
