Recruitment agency under-used – Nadir

There is a call by Minister of Labour Manzoor Nadir for employers and jobseekers to make better and more frequent use of the services of the Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency (CRMA), as it heads for another good year of performances.

According to a press release, after reviewing the records for the year so far, Nadir stated that at the end of October the agency has already registered over 1,900 persons looking for work and has placed 1,361 in jobs. The Labour Minister said this means that persons using the service have a 7 out of 10 chance of finding a job.

The minister said there has been an increase in the number of persons now finding employment since there is a positive response to the awareness campaign that has targeted both the unemployed and the employers.

The minister is also calling on jobseekers with more formal qualifications to register with the agency. He said that there have been over 350 vacancies that had no suitably qualified persons to fill.

The vacancies that currently exist are for machinists, drivers (lorry, truck with five years experience), security guards (military experience an asset), accountant, porters, heavy-duty mechanic, mechanic, technician, industrial electrician, diesel mechanic and pharmacist.
Offices for the CRMA are located in Georgetown, New Amsterdam and Anna Regina. Where there are no offices the RDCs will coordinate.
