Guard found dead at worksite

A 49-year-old security guard was found dead at his Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo workplace yesterday. There was froth at his mouth but there were no marks of violence and nothing was stolen, a company official said.

Dead is Mohamed Jamaludeen Baksh of Uitvlugt Pasture, West Coast Demerara. At the time of his death, he was employed with the Two Brothers Rice Mill at Vergenoegen.
Police said in a statement that the body was found around 7.15 am yesterday. A company official told this newspaper that the man had reported for work the previous evening and was stationed in the factory.

The official said that there was usually another guard at the gate, but the man had gone home and it was not until yesterday morning that Baksh was discovered.

Police said that they are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination as investigations continue. The body is at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
