‘Customers’ rob shop owner

Two young men who pretended to be customers held a shop owner at gunpoint on Thursday at Haslington, East Coast Demerara and later escaped with cash and jewellery.

Police said in a statement that they are investigating the armed robbery which occurred around 1:30 pm. During the attack, businesswoman Roseann Motoweren was robbed by two youths, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Investigations have revealed that the two perpetrators entered the woman’s grocery shop and ordered aerated drinks. While getting the drinks, the release said, Motoweren was held at gunpoint and robbed of $75,000 cash and her jewellery.
