PNCR donates to fire victims, daycare centres

During Thursday and yesterday, the PNCR exercised goodwill in donating household items to fire victims and toys to daycare centres.

According to a press statement issued by the party, its Human Services and Welfare Department in collaboration with party groups of the North American region donated baby walkers, toys, serving trays, food items and cleaning materials to the East Ruimveldt Municipal Day Care Centre.

Debra Glenn, Director (ag) of the centre received the items which were handed over by Volda Lawrence, director of the PNCR’s Human Services and Welfare Department.

Foodstuff and mattresses were donated to victims of three recent fires. General Secretary Oscar Clarke and other members of the party handed over the items at Congress Place, Sophia to each recipient on Thursday.

The recipients were: Esther Gordon of Kaneville, Grove East Bank Demerara; Alicia Rodney whose home was destroyed by fire at Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara causing the death of her 84-year-old father, Vivian Rodney; and Ramdei Mahadeo of 25 Craigville, Cove and John, East Coast Demerara whose home at Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara was allegedly set on fire by her reputed husband who had threatened to kill her and her children.
