Escape bid by two NA prison inmates foiled

An escape bid by two inmates of the New Amsterdam prison was foiled some time around 2 pm yesterday afternoon.

The two men who attempted to escape were Lindon Flavious, who was recently sentenced to three years imprisonment for escaping from lawful custody and Rocky Profit, who is on remand for attempted murder and numerous robberies.

According to reports reaching this newspaper a prison warden was doing his normal rounds when one of the men asked to use the washroom. When he had opened the cell for one of the men to come out the other locked him off from behind.

They then tied him up on the floor and took away his radio and bunch of keys and proceeded to open the other cells. The two men then cut open two bars in the ventilation space in the cell they shared and climbed through the opening they had made. They made it as far as the prison gardens before they were spotted and an alarm was raised. They were apprehended and taken back to their cells.
