A fire gutted a one-flat home at the Tuschen New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo yesterday leaving a man homeless.

The origin of the fire, which occurred in the afternoon, was not known.
The fire service put out the fire but according to a resident, when the tender arrived, it had only one pump and this hindered the dousing of the fire.

It was eventually put out. The fire service is conducting investigations.
