Guyana’s health sector was recently boosted with a donation of medical supplies valued about US$275,000 from Project Hope, an NGO working on the USS Kearsarge during its medical mission.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release Medical Director of the Organisation Dr Christopher Truss made the donation to Minister within the Ministry of Health Dr Bheri Ramsaran on Monday at the Materials Management Unit Bond at Farm, East Bank Demerara.

Truss said the NGO was pleased to donate the items since his team is very impressed with the services at the Georgetown Public Hospital. He said the standard at the GPH is comparable to what obtains at some health institutions in the United States.

Meanwhile, Ramsaran said the donation is evidence of the strong partnership between the ministry and Project Hope.

The USS Kearsarge is providing medical assistance to residents of Region One.
