The private criminal charge of attempted murder that was filed by a Cotton Tree rice farmer against Berbice Land Court Judge Kumar Doraisami at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court was dismissed yesterday.

The charge filed by Manzoor Ally-Khan was that on October 31 last at the annex land court entrance, Justice Doraisami drove his motorcar into his path and attempted to kill him.

Justice Doraisami was to be summoned to appear before Magistrate Geeta Chandan Persid-Edmond yesterday.
However Director of Public Prosecutions Shalimar Ali-Hack sent a letter to the magistrate instructing her to discontinue the case because of lack of evidence.

The judge told this newspaper yesterday that Ally-Khan had not made a report of attempted murder to the police station before filing the charges.
Ally-Khan has indicated that he intends to pursue the matter.
