Online registration at UG likely next year – Baksh

Minister of Education Shaik Baksh has disclosed that there are plans for the introduction of online student registration next year at the University of Guyana (UG).

A press release from GINA quoted Baksh as saying “I will directly engage the university so that come next year it will have an online registration system in place.”

The minister said he had called on the university about two years ago to implement online registration to make the process easier, alluding to other universities around the world providing this updated service.

The minister noted that UG and the University of the West Indies (UWI) are collaborating to address problems facing the local institution so that it can be moved to greater heights.

The release further quoted Baksh as saying “We have already started the collaboration. A top level team came here about two months ago and right now we have Professor Carrington from UWI, St Augustine who is engaging the university in some discussion to see how they can strengthen the collaboration on things like online registration and other matters.”
