Agri minister not living at Herdmanston

- GuySuCo
The Guyana Sugar Corpora-tion (GuySuCo) has denied that Agriculture Minister Robert Persaud lives at Herdmanston House and said the minister does not occupy any building belonging to the corporation.

GuySuCo was responding to statements made by Alliance For Change leader, Khemraj Ramjattan at a press conference yesterday that Persaud had moved to a house in Herdmanston Compound, which belongs to the corporation.

In a press release sent through the Ministry of Agriculture, the state-owned company said Persaud does not live in Herdmanston House, does not occupy any building belonging to GuySuCo “nor has the corporation expended a dollar on any living accommodation for the minister.”

Ramjattan, at the press conference had stated that millions of dollars of repairs had to be done to the house to bring it to the desired state the minister wanted it to be. GuySuCo however stated that it was giving up Herdmanston House to be used either as an embassy or as a residence for an ambassador. “This will bring income into GuySuCo rather than being a cost centre.

GuySuCo is currently looking at ways in which it can further save costs and make it more cost conscious and effective,” the release stated.
