New ice cream parlour promises quality, novelty

A new ice cream parlour has opened its doors at the corner of Albert Street and North road selling for the first time in Guyana Edy’s ice cream, a brand under Nestle.

Under the umbrella of Nasir and Nasir Company, popularly known for the Bakewell and Roti Hut brands, the new parlour offers “novelty items of a wide variety… with more to come,” company CEO Naeem Nasir told the media at the parlour’s opening yesterday.

Referring to the prices that might raise the eyebrows of some, Nasir said the parlour will offer “the highest quality of premium ice-cream,” with a variety of flavours and toppings to choose from.

The CEO said Edy’s is the number one brand of ice cream in the United States contrary to popular belief that Haagen-Das holds the number one spot.

Elias Munoz Business Expert Manager of Nestle, Caribbean said Edy’s ice-cream is sold in nine other Caribbean countries.

The Puerto Rico-based Munoz said the brand is here to stay as Nestle has stayed in other countries where other brands refused to stay.

Referring to Nestle products as the world’s healthiest and most nutritious, Munoz said that Edy’s became a known brand in the United States some four years ago.
