Former Indian prime minister dies

Vishwanath Pratap Singh, former Prime Minister of India from December 2, 1989 to  November 10, 1990 died last Thursday at age 77, a High Commission of India press statement said.

Singh was born in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh and served as the Chief Minister of that Indian state. He also held various portfolios as a minister in the central government including Finance and Home.

A condolence book will be open at the High Commission in Church Street for two days beginning tomorrow between 10am and 12 noon.
