“I didn’t steal no bicycle, your worship, I went to buy weed for the owner,” a 40-year-old man told Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday.

Owen Sultan of 31 Guyhoc Park, Georgetown pleaded guilty to the charge of larceny when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. However, he requested an opportunity to give the court an explanation.

It is alleged that on September 13 at Duncan Street, Campbellville Sultan stole one gent’s mountain climber bicycle worth $13,500.

Sultan, during his explanation to the court, said he worked with the owner of the bicycle and on the day in question he left to purchase marijuana for the owner. According to Sultan, he was riding back to the man’s house with the marijuana when a police van pulled up.

“De police pull up and I drop de bicycle and run away,” Sultan said.

After listening to the man’s explanation Magistrate Robertson entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. Sultan was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 and he has to return to Court Two on December 22.
