President celebrates Kala Utsav with devotees

President Bharrat Jagdeo joined devotees at the Dharmic Sanskritik Kendra on Sunday to celebrate Kala Utsav which attracted over 200 participants from across the country.

According to the Government Information Agency (GINA) President Bharrat Jagdeo acknowledged the “rich depth of talent in Guyana” when he congratulated the youth on their performances. Jagdeo said he hopes more effort will be put into developing the talents of youth from far-flung areas and in showcasing them countrywide. “This is very important for our country and for the preservation of our culture,” he said.

According to GINA the President also extended condolences to the government and people of India for the terrorist attacks the country experienced recently. Jagdeo said the attacks also harmed the economy and that “extremism in all forms must be fought vigorously wherever it exists and certainly India has our support as it tries to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
