Woman shot while cleaning at Kwakwani

A 19-year-old Corentyne woman was shot on Tuesday after a firearm which was among articles she was removing while cleaning a room went off.

Subrina Anderson of Fyrish Village is a patient of the Kwakwani Hospital where she is nursing a gunshot wound to the left foot.

In a release yesterday the police said that the incident occurred around 4:15 pm and investigations have revealed that Anderson who is spending some time with relatives at Kwakwani was assisting in cleaning a room. While removing some articles, an explosion was heard and on checking it was found that she had been shot to her left foot.

The police recovered a .30 calibre firearm with a matching round at the scene.

She was taken to the Kwakwani Hospital where she was admitted a patient.
