Father of four facing unlawful wounding charge

A father of four  who is accused of unlawfully wounding a man was granted  $75,000 bail when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Thirty-year-old Michael Browne of 128 Carmichael Street, South Cummingsburg pleaded not guilty to the charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm to Vernon Samuels.

It is alleged that on November 3 at Carmichael Street, Browne unlawfully and maliciously wounded Samuels.

However, Browne’s lawyer stated that his client knew nothing about the allegation brought against him. He noted that Browne had been placed on

$5,000 station bail two weeks ago. The defence attorney then applied for bail.
However, the prosecution stated that Browne had dealt Samuels several kicks about the body causing him to sustain a fractured arm.

The magistrate subsequently placed Browne on bail and transferred the case to Court Three for January 16 next year.
