Ammo found on man in VIP lounge

Security personnel yesterday found nine rounds of ammunition on a licensed firearm holder in the VIP lounge of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri yesterday, sources say.

The man, said to be the head of a state agency, was eventually allowed to depart on a Caribbean Airlines flight after calls were made to a ministry official.

The ammunition was confiscated. It is unclear if charges are going to be pressed. Questions have already been raised as to how the passenger was able to pass through security scanners with the ammunition.
