Robbed of bike by ice-pick youth –court hears

An eighteen-year-old boy who allegedly used an ice-pick to rob a man of a bicycle and a quantity of cash was granted $75,000 bail on Tuesday when he appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Eelun David of North Sophia pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery under arms.
It is alleged that on December 9, David used an ice-pick to rob Richard Charles of a pedal bicycle and quantity of cash, totalling $59,000.

However, David’s lawyer declared the youth’s innocence and stated that he was never in trouble with the police before and the real perpetrators are on the road.

Meanwhile, Charles stated that he knows David because he has seen him numerous times. He said that on the day in question he was riding his bicycle when David together with others hit him off of it and took it away along with a quantity of cash he had in his pocket.

The prosecution made no objection to David’s bail application. The magistrate subsequently granted $75,000 bail and ordered that he appear again in court on January 23.
