Quartet held after robbing salesman at LBI

Public-spirited citizens gave chase
Four bandits were chased down and captured  by public-spirited citizens on Thursday, minutes after they had robbed a Sterling Products employee of cash as he was dropping off supplies at a La Bonne Intention (LBI) shop.

The quartet said to be between the ages of 15 and 19 and from villages along the East Coast, was handed over to the police and will face charges shortly.
Police in a release stated that they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred around 2.30 pm at LBI, East Coast Demerara, during which driver/salesman Dayson Yearwood attached to Sterling Products Ltd was attacked and robbed by four men, one of whom was armed with a cutlass.

Investigations revealed that Yearwood along with two porters was delivering supplies to a shop when he (Yearwood) was confronted by the men who took away $50,000 cash and his jewellery.

An alarm was raised and persons nearby gave chase and caught the robbers in the neighbouring village of Beterverwagting.
