Power shutdown hits Better Hope to Bel Air

GPL consumers between Better Hope and Bel Air experienced extended blackouts following a series of faults on the circuit powering the lower East Coast.

These faults occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday and resulted in a complete system shutdown.

According to a release from GPL, the faults were located along the Sophia dam and power was expected to be restored to all affected areas by yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile the release said that after the power outage, the drainage pump at Liliendaal was switched on to its alternative power supply.   Power to the pump was maintained until repairs to its usual source had been completed.

GPL apologises to all customers who were affected by the power outage.
