$30.3M in new meters for GPL

Government is purchasing new electrical meters for the Guyana Power and Light (GPL), Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon said yesterday.
He told reporters at his weekly post-cabinet briefing that a contract of $30.3 million has been cleared for the GPL project.

Further, cabinet has also given the green light for projects in the security and water sectors. Luncheon said $65.7 million would be spent in the education sector to secure tools and equipment for secondary schools and practical instruction centres. While $31.1 million is to be spent in the water sector for the procurement of works to the Bare Root, East Coast Demerara water distribution network.
