I agree, Jobs wise there is nothing there for anyone. I'm proud to be a Guyanese, but I'm thankful for my parents for bringing me and my sister over here to the U.S. Our authorities are just corrupt.

I agree, the incentives are not there to remain. Once you graduate from high school or UG then there are no real opportunities for the young folks.

Very true. However, it's the government in power that's making these people desperate to leave at all costs. People would sell their souls to get out. Can you blame them!

Excellent piece, we have a nation of dependents just waiting to leave.

Immigration in the US has destroyed the fabric of our culture. I remember when to get divorced was frowned upon, now it's the order of the day among Guyanese in the US. Divorce to get married and get their Green Card, then divorce to get married to your original spouse after acquiring the Green Card.

On occasion the spouse moves on. What about the Guyanese that get divorced to go to the US to get married and then return to get their spouse. They sometimes get waylaid and remain with their new spouses.

Shame what emigration has done to our culture and our society. Destroyed it.
