We have so many of our ministers who are working hard but their efforts are not showing up because they are not working with a larger plan and nothing is strategic and connects. TTheir leader lacks vision and they are afraid to tell him. The same is happening with Health. Look Minister Ramsammy is a star with the work he is doing. He has his faults but he has been doing a lot. But he has been making micro contributions. His efforts in health is not tied to the socio-economic determinants of health which are developmental by nature. This can only happen through a coordinated planning process such as what I read is happening with the HIV/AIDS program and this was only after the donors insist on a strategic multisectoral multistakeholder plan. Any way I understand from some of my PPP friends that Dr. Ramsammy will be coming to Canada later in the month to give some talks about some health matters in some provinces. I understand he will be in Toronto and Halifax. I would be delighted to meet with this guys to give him my personal congratulations for his leadership in health despite the short comings of the system. He deserves our credit. Great stuff.
