overseasguyanese,,,from your blog, i don't think your cousin had legal representation in this matter, and I'm guessing by what you're saying that he never bothered to get his act together, he was not married to his children's mother, my suggestion is that his children's mother go to Guyana and marry him, pay the fine and he has to wait five (5) years outside before applying for permission to apply for a visa to Re-enter the United States. ....Contact an Immigration Attorney, this imformation is free.. Good Luck.

tiger, I have nothing to gain by telling a lie, I came to this country in 1966, and everybody knows my story of being poor, hungry and homeless,,,,those are the people i fight for, MY people. And when you do a "CLEANUP" it is not always a writ of habaes corpus, YOU the OIC have to make a decision that benefits the service, in this case this man did not commit an offense that was criminal in nature, although he however was "ALLEGED" to have abused his live in girlfriend and he overstayed his time in the U S, something I did when I first came het to go to school on a student's visa. It would have been different had the Immigration had signed a WRIT, but this was a letter sent to us from a female, and I was chosen to go because I was from Guyana...MY CALL HERE.

Arganauth, you would make a good writer. Why not write a book about your story?...Don't mind most Guyanese are not readers...It should sell good in the diaspora and it will immortalize your odyssey.

Very touching story by Donna and others.

My cousin is currently going through the deportation process. We are all calling him stupid. He is one of those people who cuts all ties with family back home when the migrated. He was "played" by the justice system in the US. He was convicted of entering the US with a visa that is for I think "tourist" and not a B1... or something like that, also passport fraud and other minor convictions that includes traffic violations. He was never given the chance to fight for his rights. He had a 5 years multiple visa. I don't condone what he did and strongly believe he should have kept "his nose clean". Deportees or "aliens" are treated like worthless animals by the Americans. My cousin's experience proved that.

On the day of his hearing his two children were there. Ages 2 and 4. The 2 year old kept calling his name and wishing him happy birthday (yes it was on his b/day) and the 4 years old kept staring and asking questions. She mainly wanted to know why they had "those things" around his hands and why my sisters and others were crying. After the hearing was over they asked if the kids can give him a hug and it was allowed. The 4 years old held onto him and would not let go. He spent 11 years there and never bothered to get his act together. I don't know what he will do when he returns but all I know is that he had his chance to be a father to those kids and he ruined it.

What else is there to say? There is good in the worst of us and bad in the best of us. I have 'deportee' family members. Our successes depend on which one shapes our lives first. If the bad does and when given an opportunity to reconstruct we do like Ms. Snagg then our living has not been in vain. Aragnauth - I think I know your family. Do not mislabel yourself. You were just a victim of a system and a lawyer that did not have your best interest at heart. Congratulations on your successes and may you, Ms. Snagg and everyone else who got and grasped the opportunity continue to prosper! Those who haven't - It is there for your taking.

LINDENBANNA,
Man, I must extend gracious respects to you on your understanding and compassion to our people. Honestly, you're cool, if your stories are true (and I don't contest them), you are truly one to respect...in the true meaning of the word. I say so as I would myself behave the same way as you did. There are some stories I can tell you that would sure be analogical to yours. Point here is - IT'S A SMALL WORLD.
(No, I'm not a deportee or a potential one, but I identify with your personality).

I baptise you GUYANABANNA from now on. Respect.

America betrayed me. I lived most of my whole life there: my childhood, my boyhood but i didnt leave without my man hood. Life goes on. A brief look into my life. Deportees, stop making ones like bad and get it together. Get this money: the right way.

Time to go. My papers were ready. My "dougla" from guyana came to visit me. She went back home with our first baby. I went to barbados then to canada. Immigration was a piece of cake. Too easy. I landed in canada on april 14th. My girl was having my baby.

amen- re,,,A couple of years ago I was in Guyana and got sick in a Restaurant on Regent street, so I left and walked around the corner and took a taxi from infront of Nigel's supermarket and left my car parked because I didn't think I could drive home. I gave the guy my address and I noticed he kept smiling and shaking his head from side to side. As we drove, he kept looking at me in the rear view mirror and he kept saying that he knew me, and wanted to know who I brought back,,,,I told him that I was on vacation here and don't know what he is talking about. When we pulled up to my house on the East Coast, my wife came out and said eh eh Mr X where is the car, the taxi driver started to scream,,,that's it that's it Mr X,,,I know you,,,,you were so nice to me, I got the money you went and got from my employer as you promised and you bought shoes for my baby, and a coat so that my wife and kids can follow me home, I told him he got the wrong person, and he said no I don't, you let me walk in the Airport like a man without handcuffs on, you're a good guy thanks.
