Yes indeed Latchman, Stabroek News have done us all a great blessing by providing this international forum.
Yet even SN may not have been so hopeful to expect comments like those from the most eloquent REVEREND AMOS KASIBANTE OF UGANDA.
This really IS THE GLOBAL VILLAGE and we must all start thinking 'outside the box' like the good Reverend or we we will
surely evolve ourselves backwards.. relatively.

Mr C N Sharma has summed up the hopes and aspirations for Guyana in 2009 rather well and I especially liked his subtle comment...
“We would like to see that children − don’t do lip service − children must [be] given the proper way to live, a decent living standard for children in this country (Guyana)."

NICE PERCEPTION, FOR THE CHILDREN TODAY ARE THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW.

I wish all peace, contentment and happiness for the whole year of 2009

Gerry my friend
There is no doubt that you are well informed but unfortunately I like you am writing in exile Jagan and Burnham were once together before the introduction of apan jhaat. What has that done to our country of birth? Hundred of thousans of our people of all races fled taking their capital and skill with them
I admire President Bharat Jagdeo but he cannot do it alone there must be team work TEAM means TOGETHER EACH ACHIEVES MORE .Every one with guyanes connection must be involved irrespective of race politics religion sex or culture

WISHING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY A HAPPY 2009 WITH THANKS TO THE STABROEK NEWS FOR PROVIDING THIS INTERNATIONAL FORUM

Mr. Kissoon I do not agree with you. There is so much cynicism in what you wrote. Did the PNC share responsibilities with Dr. Jagan and the PPP? Again President Jagdeo deeply cares about his people and is very conscientious in his discharge of his duuties. I know Lawyers who were preaching against National Service and eventually became Minister in the PNC Government. Is the the kind of sharing you are talking about? What contribution did they make to Guyana but kept on grabbing land and more to keep the status quo !!!!!!!

Do not wish and hope, work hard to carry out your good plans, but do not hurt others while doing so. Ask help of others and give them yours in return. Accept blame for the wrongs we have done and be a better person by doing so. do not blame others for things that do not go right for us. help to make them right.
When you comtemplate a good, do it immediately, but when you contemplate an evil act, put it off indefinitely.
Wishes always become reality for those who work hard and sincerely, especially when we work hard to benefit others. The gov't.? Regards.

I have read and appreciate all the New Year Messages but I agree with Mr C.N Sharma that President Jagdeo alone should not do all the work for the guyanese people. The young president is seen all over the place and hardly has any hair on his handsome head.
He should share his responsability with Mr Corbin who has a full head of hair
                   HAIR TODAY GONE TOMORROW

Reading the New Year wishes from Guyana in Sunday Starbroek, one is tempted to plagiarise them and use them as an expression of the wishes, prayer, and hopes of my own people in Uganda and many other African countries. Believe me, dear Guyanese people, that the wishes have international resonance, and I am so glad that the women and men who have scripted the wishes have done so in measured language and with integrity. I have always been impressed that Guyanese have a global vision and not always confine themselves to happenings in Guyana. It is good to know that leadership cannot only come from the Head of State, but also from commerce, business, the professions, and religious organisations.
