Great article! Thank you Mr. David James for your good work and focus on the issues at hand...
Definitely some of the suggestions by previous comments would make a difference in the title lands, especially around enforcement...
I can't wait to go back to Guyana and meet with more Amerindians and hopefully they will be able to come visit us in Canada one day soon!

Can Mr James state the percentage of Indigenous People that work in the forestry and mining industries?
What are influential organisations such as APA doing to promote more involvement of qualified Indigenous People in the forestry and mining sectors? Are there any scholarships for young indigenous students who wish to pursue a career in those two industries?
The main reason why there is often a confrontational relationship between GGMC or GFC and the Indigenous communities is because of a fundamental lack of understanding on some of the main issues by both the government agencies and representatives of the Indigenous Peoples.
This lack of understanding can be reduced if there are qualified Indigenous persons to work in the forestry and mining industries. By being employed directly within the sectors would enable them to identify the mandates of the agencies. At the same time their Indigenous background and knowledge would assit the sectors in setting out guidelines that are compatible with the Indigenous Peoples.
I would therefore forward a suggestion to Mr James to try to encourage young indigenous students to pursue careers in Forestry and mining.
GGMC offers scholarships to UG in careers in mining and so does GFC in forestry programes. Very few of these scholarships are taken by Indigenous students.
