Dear Editor,
Traffic officers have a job to curb speeding along our roads.
President Bharrat Jagdeo is undoubtedly a wise and judicious statesman who should see to it that in villages speed limit signs are posted on poles – GPL or otherwise – at least at the beginning or end of every village, so drivers know what the limit is.
Drivers would see this both ways and would come to their senses if they were exceeding the speed limit. In this way ‘top up’ for police officers when they find someone driving over the speed limit would be a thing of the past.
And hats off to all our cops! You are doing a fine job.
Yours faithfully,
Arnold Persaud

I was a passenger in a taxi enroute to Linden last week when the vehicle was stopped by a serious traffic police. Upon approaching the car, he advised the driver that per his radar gun, he was guilty of speeding. “Officer, see yuh way wid me nuh man”, pleaded the driver.
Stroking his well chiseled chin, the officer said, “yuh could leff a lil someting wid meh den”. Being of a petite frame, I assumed he was referring to me and was willing to be “left” since the officer was very handsome. To my disappointment, I learned that he was alluding to a financial bribe.
These officers are shameful!
