There is a joke which has been published in many regional newspapers, although I do not think it has reached Guyana yet. It is in the form of an advertisement which reads as follows: Looking for batsmen for West Indies cricket team, no skills necessary, will train you but you will have to be able to block, just block, the deliveries on the other end so that S. Chanderpaul can bat. Only serious applicants would be considered.

I really don’t get it….
The W.I. coach said that the team lack skills in batting, bowling and fielding. What skills do they have? And why are they playing cricket.
Most importantly, why is he still in his job if these skills are still lacking?
