Dear Editor,
I refer to a letter in SN July 14, 08 captioned ‘Does the PPP have an education programme to teach Marxism Leninism?’ The writer raises some interesting questions which can be ventilated on the floor of the upcoming PPP Congress.
I have no doubt that he is aware of the party’s education committee and the work they do. He should also be aware of the external activities of the Cheddi Jagan Research Centre and the party in preserving the name, work and legacy of Dr Jagan as he cannot be unaware of the extensive programme of activities undertaken annually especially in the month of March.
I was not trying to answer all of the points he raised or to claim any privilege other than as the (voluntary) Administrator of the Centre, pointing out that the legacy of Dr Jagan is alive and well.
In feigning obtuseness he is trying to extend this discussion further. I have no problem with the discussion but he is aware that the place for this is by way of a motion or resolution in his name from the floor of the highest forum in the party rather than in the letter columns of the Stabroek News with “Name and address provided.”
That is what I meant when I said in my previous letter that “the method he chooses to ventilate his opinion is certainly not in keeping with party discipline or Dr Jagan’s legacy.”
