Dear Editor,

I have absolutely no idea whether the reports carried by journalist Mr Gordon Moseley from Antigua a few weeks ago were accurate or inaccurate, but I would like to believe that if indeed a situation has arisen and the reports are questionable, the Guyana Press Association is the agency which should be dealing with the situation.

I totally object to the Government Information Agency banning Channel 7 reporter, Mr Moseley, from State House and the Office of the President, and we have to be very careful during this period that this doesn’t go hand in hand with the advertisement being aired to the effect that ‘The Caribbean is coming and the world is watching.’

The entire press plays a pivotal role in any given national event of a country and I honestly don’t believe that we should be going down that avenue of being vindictive towards press personalities.

Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
