In Guyana case may be - one has to go through politicians.
But I expect that I go the Ministry that landles land if I am buying or leasing a piece of land and not the politicians. This is where I would get my papers and copies be kept there for record.

This issue is very important to Africans but even though politicians can help the burden is on Africans themselves to look after what concerns them. I am not one who believes the Govt will go out of its way to look into this when in fact they have already indicated to the contrary.

The letter writer wrote that, "Officials of the Deeds Registry claim that these transports are at the archive and the officials at the archive claim that the records are too fragile for research" but did not say if attempts were made to check the archives in the UK. With help from members in the diaspora, attempts should also be made to revive the documents at the local archive.

This mindset of depending on Govt. and politicians to do everything must change. Keep on researching, get the facts and go to the courts. The letter writer has done very well thus far. His letter is very informative.
