Dear Editor,
As noted by Ms Abina Hamilton (‘Annai students performed well in art competitions,’ SN 29.7.08) , there is an abundance of talent in Annai and Region 9 as a whole. I am a bit disappointed that at least one child artist from the region has not been invited to work on the children’s art mural on the seawall, as Annai Secondary has been participating and excelling in recent art competitions. This is despite the fact there is no art teacher at the school.
On the whole, students outside the immediate Lethem area are often left out of many activities, since except for mostly outdated newspapers, very little information comes our way. I am reminding both GT&T and Digicel of their promises to have a landline and cellular tower installed at Bina Hill. That way we can access the internet (from school) and be in regular contact with the coast.
Yours faithfully,
Althea Daniels-Thornton

Great thought! Better yet the child that placed second from Annai Secondary should have been given a chance to enlarge his winning piece on the sea-wall.
But as usual – interior people (Amerindian/non-Amerindian) are treated as second class – when it come national events/international.
Well put!
