Dear Editor,

Mr Oliver Hinckson has again been denied bail, and continues to be moved from one location to the next.

This sixty-four year old man with a known medical problem is continuously subjected to being shackled and taken into court in a most undignified manner.

Every time the defence raises issues of inhuman treatment being meted out to citizens, the police and the prosecutors claim that they are unaware of these incidents, and promise to investigate. Who is fooling who?

Yours faithfully,
Hamilton Green, JP

The Mayor is right when he noted that Hinckson is being moved around in a willy nilly manner given his health. But of equal importance to note is that the court ordered the man be remanded in one place, but the State continues to show that it is above the law, flagrantly disregarding the court’s order.

How can people condemn criminal elements when teh State itself is not complying with the courts? Where is the condemnation of the State?

This is a political charge along the same lines as Mark Benschop.

I fully supported the point made by Mr Green Mayor of Georgetown. It is well know how many laws has been broken by the state where law is concern.

Everyone have the right to be heard and to be treated according to the law but in Hinckson situation he is getting the silent treatment as Mark Benchop and a deaf ears been given regarding Hinckson Health.

Many aware of the inhuman to many citizen and afraid to speak up because their is no fairness in the Guyana Law.

You are aware of the torture of those young men and the report has been completed why is it that this report not publish and what cause the delay. My people because this Government is aware of those individual who committed a unlawful crime, breaking the Law and is embarrassed to go public with the report.

This is not surprising that the Prosecutors, the Police and even the AG Commissioner clamming that they are unaware of the inhuman treatment of citizen. Then, prove that you have done something, prove your investigation and the results of your investigation.

The Oliver Hinckson case has to be kept on the front burner or else he can end up spending two years behind bars without a trial. Or he may die from lack of medical care.
