Dear Editor,
With regard to traffic control too many times, the police work in the less troubled areas. For example, the East Bank and South minibuses are notorious for speeding, and the latter have kept up the loud and abrasive music. Many buses still have their music systems, and when approaching a lawman will lower the volume. I find this to be an indictment of the police. Surely the police are not fooled by this gimmick. All that is needed is for the systems to be removed from these vehicles, and that will solve all the noise problems. Also, why is it that buses caught in any kind of traffic illegality, are asked to go to Brickdam or the relevant police stations? Do operators have to go to the police precincts for charges to be effected? What is the law here? Please Commissioner, give us some help here. I have been asked to disembark on too many occasions.
My second grouse is with NCN. I listen to the various newscasts, and these seem like history. The items are repeated verbatim for more than one day. This, when complicated with grammatical errors is a problem. Too many times I have called the sportscaster to point out that the items were outdated, only to find out that the news was pre-recorded. There are problems too in the case of a presenter on 98.1FM, as well as on VOG.
If presenters are incompetent and limited, then simply seek to train them.
Yours faithfully,
Shane Rizwan

Removal of boom boom boxes must mean removal….but some of these buses are owned by people in high places…..so this is to be expected…..its a waste of time passing laws……the govt is gutless….then again….its some govt ppl who might own some of these buses…..opposition too………..birds of feather eh?
how does removing music systems fix the problem?…there are custom built systems that come with many buses…drivers don’t need to have large boxes to have loud music…this being so…whats next?…no radio?…no cd player…?…no audio systems period?…this is a dangerous path we are on…
these bus drivers would never stop playing these loud music , especially the buses that run from berbice to georgetown , thats why the buses cause accident everyday and people lost their lifes . thank you
The President has not signed this bill and many others after Parliament , his own PPP partty passed these bills. An important bill that is caught up in this non signing is the bill that protects young children from sex predators. So the wild west continues.
All of our most qualifie people have migrated. What remains to be chosen from, for our radio and T/V anouncers is an abuse to the ear and eyes. To compound this proffessionals are not given the respect and pay they deserve….so the square pegs in round holes……everywhere!!!!
Again I say Guyana is not a lawless country as some claim; it is just that they are not enforced. When you have connections…..you don’t obey the law you abuse it.
Never seen acustom made vehicle with the kind of sets these ppl got in their vehicles..hog wash
