Dear Editor,

May I express my deepest sympathies to Mrs de Caires, family and the staff of Stabroek News on the passing of David.  He was a good and courageous human being. He was an outstanding  Guyanese patriot. I recall the days of Gestetner paper journalism. What a relief when Stabroek News emerged. I recall Anand Persaud covering an event we had organized for the National Workers Union at the Pegasus Hotel and our walk across Georgetown with Caribbean leaders when we were denied the opportunity to place flowers at the feet of the Hubert Nathaniel Critchlow statue. We were featured on the front page of Stabroek News. In a way our emergence was nationally announced. The DLM and the PCD received coverage at a time when press freedom was in jeopardy. I hope that Stabroek News will continue to be published.

Yours faithfully,
Paul Nehru Tennassee
