Minister of the Year

Dear Editor,
Would it be possible for President Jagdeo to declare young, educated and compassionate Minister Priya Manickchand, Minister of the Year? He could look at the clip during the Lusignan story and see which one of his ministers was more compassionate than Priya.
Yours faithfully,
B. Darnley

    Good choice.

A beautiful woman doing a fine job.

I do not see references to her husband.

Priya is trying. The social problems of Guyana were not created yesterday. They have been there for a very long time, and nobody thinks that they are all going to disappear. Guyana does not need Doctors in Kitchen Management, Arts and Craft and so on to make life a little better for ordinary people.
    Go Priya Go!

I’ll give it as a tie to Dr. Ramsammy and Ms. Manickchand….imagine we have to give ministers awards for doing the job they beg for….anyway, it is needed because they have outshined their other dull colleagues.

Oh! Henry has gone only Clement left…..maybe Venezuela or Brazil…keep him close to home too.

I’ll give Leslie the nod, he has single handedly put Guyana’s healthcare system on his shoulders and elevated it to a level that exceeds any period in Guyana’s history.

This person is being paid MORE than most Guyanese to do a job like anybody else working. Why are you awarding this person AGAIN, is an insult to others. Please wake up from your impossible dream.

  10. Georgie UNITED STATES says:

Gtbeat! What is it that Ms. Manickchand has done that is so remarkable? It occurs to me that the level of intelligence( decoding the environment and being in constant awareness of that environment) and competence of the political authorities and technocrats are so debase, that anything little thing that is done is promoted as success by parties concenned. Not to be mistaken, that is what they are dictated by their portfolio to do.
For instance, this Minister streamlined the issuance of pension books. That was hailed as a great accomplishment. What!?
I would have expected the Minister to identify a critical area within her portfolio that is affecting a great cross section of society. With that, set up committees in various regions to study the problems and solutions and incorporate the results into a working document. From there, you champion that before Parliament and fight for its funding and implementation. Get it done or started before you relinquish your portfolio.
