Dear Editor,

I was recently in Guyana and was appalled at the state of poverty that Guyana has descended into. We have no reason to be in this state given the resources we have, human and natural. But, because of gross mismanagement and racial politics practised deliberately on our human resources, we are now rated as one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere.

What can our young people hope for when they have been born into this state of poverty? Do they really know what a better life actually is?

I pray that one day we can for once rid Guyana of racial politics and the few political elites who think they have the God-given right to keep us in such a state for their benefit. Our hopes and dreams are stronger than the PNC and PPP.

Yours faithfully,
K. Persaud

  7. Cochore UNITED STATES says:

Guyana needs a good dose of pragmatism in the national leadership before any meaningful change could be realized. The political elite has been and continues to be a bunch of devout ideologues, who kneel at the same alter that produced 42 years of non stop failures and hardships. The situation is, kinda like, follow the leader with too much in-breathing and not enough independent thinking.

Of course, I do agree that nothing lasts forever, however, this disgraceful state of affair has been going on for much too long. It’s about time that the Guyanese people at home experience something different in the governing philosophy of their leadership and I’m talking about the involvement of some folks here in the diaspora. Please read through the lines here folks, because if I’m any more explicit, I’ll start to sound treasonous.

Conscious and progressive overseas Guyanese need to finance a brand new political party with no affiliations to any political entity back in Guyana. Then find a way to introduce a new political plank to the electorate back in Guyana. I see this as a possibility only after sound organization, financing and planning, where nothing is done in secrecy. Jambo Ndugu!… If we want real progressive change I’m afraid that this is the only constructive way it can happen.

    • C E O UNITED STATES says:

      Agreed….CHANGE in Guyana is overdue.

Vision Guyana/Roop 2011 is available, with no political parties’ affiliation.

From VG 2011 website, they are pro business to create jobs and improve Guyana with help from the diaspora, with honesty, integrity, and transparency.

Educated and experienced = Qualified persons to lead ministries and governmental agencies, no more party long serving persons.

Long before Mr. K. Most us in this generation are blinded by it until we see and live it ourselves.

Please send your observation to the PPP propagandist like Da Silva, Dr. Randy Persaud, Boodram, Hergash. Dr. Prem Misir, Professor Dr. Suresh Narine and others—these are the people who want to prolong our misery.
